Temu Verification Code: Sign-In Texts and Fixes

Temu verification code text

A Temu verification code is a one-time code that Temu sends to confirm it’s really you. Temu texts it when you sign in with your phone number, when it asks you to verify your identity, and when you add or switch the number on your account.

Asked for it? Enter it on Temu. Didn’t? Don’t share it.

Why does Temu text you a verification code?

Temu’s terms say it may “send you authentication texts, including one-time passcodes.” Codes show up here:

When What Temu sends
Signing in with your phone number A verification code by text
Verifying your identity A code by text or email, or another way you choose
Adding or switching your phone number A text to verify the new number
Resetting your password (email accounts) A 6-digit code by email, valid for 2 hours

Can you sign up for Temu without a phone number?

Yes. Temu’s sign-in screen asks for your email or phone number, so you can sign up with an email address instead, or pick an option under “Or continue with other ways”.

Whichever you choose, Temu’s terms say you agree “to provide true, accurate, complete, and updated information about yourself, including contact details” and that “You must not create multiple accounts.” So a second number is for keeping your personal number private on your one account, not for opening extra accounts.

A PVADeals number is a real mobile number from a carrier (non-VoIP), so Temu sees an ordinary phone. It receives SMS only.

How to get the Temu code on a PVADeals number

  1. Create a free PVADeals account and add credits: crypto from $3, or a card through Stripe from $5.
  2. Choose Temu from the list of websites, with the United States or the United Kingdom. If it isn’t listed for your country, rent an All services number instead, which works on any website.
  3. Pick a rental: long-term (3, 7, 14 or 30 days, from $0.70) if you’ll sign in with the number, or short-term (20 minutes, from $0.09); see below.
  4. Enter the number on Temu’s sign-in screen, or add it to your account.
  5. Copy the code from your PVADeals dashboard, where it appears as soon as it arrives, and enter it in Temu.

Short-term or long-term for Temu?

A short-term number (20 minutes) covers the sign-up code. After that it’s gone, and reuse isn’t guaranteed. If the number is how you sign in, Temu’s next code would go to a number you no longer have.

So if you’ll sign in by phone, use a long-term number on auto-renew (it stays the same while you renew), an All services plan ($12.99 a month in the US; $6.99 a month or $11.99 for 3 months in the UK), or your own number. Two more safeguards:

  • Keep a working email on the account, so you can verify your identity another way.
  • Turn on two-factor authentication with an authenticator app. Temu’s sign-in screen then offers to “Use the code generated by authenticator app”.

How to change your phone number on Temu

Temu calls this “Switch mobile phone number” (see its help article). The steps:

  1. Confirm it’s you. “Please enter your Temu password for … to edit phone number.”
  2. Enter the new number. “Enter the new mobile phone number you would like to associate with your account below.”
  3. Verify it. “We will send you a text to verify this phone number”. Enter that code.

If Temu says your number “might not be receiving our Temu verification code”, that’s its prompt to edit the number.

If the Temu verification code doesn’t arrive

  • Check the number. Temu’s tip under “Didn’t receive the code?” is: “Make sure your phone number is correct.”
  • Try another way. “If you still don’t see the code, try another way to verify your identity”, for example by email. For email codes, Temu adds: “Please check your spam folder.”
  • Can’t sign in at all? Under “Trouble signing in?”, you can reset your password or find your account “by email, mobile phone number or Order ID.”
  • No SMS on a PVADeals number? If an eligible number receives no SMS during the rental, its cost comes back to your balance automatically as store credit.

Texts that claim to be from Temu

Not every text that mentions Temu comes from Temu. Its terms list why it may contact you, including account notices, order, payment and delivery updates, and authentication texts. Marketing texts come only if you sign up for them.

Temu’s Safety center has a section on recognizing scam messages, and a way to report “a suspicious phone call, email or SMS/text message.”

Shop without your personal number

A non-VoIP number from PVADeals gets your Temu verification code without your own number, from $0.09 for 20 minutes or $0.70 for 3 days. See the prices and our US phone numbers, or read our guides for Walmart and Amazon.

Frequently asked questions

Why did I get a Temu verification code?
Temu texts a one-time code when someone signs in with your phone number, when it needs to verify your identity, and when a number is added to an account. Its terms say it may “send you authentication texts, including one-time passcodes.” If you didn’t request the code, don’t share it.
Why is my Temu verification code not coming?
Temu’s own tip is to “Make sure your phone number is correct.” If the code still doesn’t come, choose another way to verify your identity, such as email. If an eligible PVADeals number receives no SMS, its cost comes back to your balance as store credit.
How do I change my phone number on Temu?
Temu asks for your password first, then for the new number, and texts that number to verify it. After that, “The new mobile phone number can be used to sign in to Temu account.”
Can I use a temporary number for Temu?
For your own account, yes: a PVADeals number is a real mobile number, so Temu sees an ordinary phone. Temu’s terms say “You must not create multiple accounts,” so use it to keep your personal number private, not to open extra accounts. Choose a long-term number if you’ll sign in by phone.
